Andrea is a filmmaker and consumer activist. As Time magazine noted, she has helped major productions and companies as well as “worked on countless other projects related to LGBTQ identities.”
While writing ads for ten years at top Chicago agencies, she authored Transgender Map, a how-to guide for transgender people. In 2003, she co-founded Deep Stealth Productions, creating numerous instructional videos and short films. She produced and appeared in first all-transgender performance of The Vagina Monologues, featured in the documentary Beautiful Daughters. Andrea is the opening shot of the film Transamerica and was a producer and on-camera talent for the dating show Transamerican Love Story. She has served on the Boards of Directors for TransYouth Family Allies and Outfest, and she serves on the Grant Committee for the Anton Yelchin Foundation.
Andrea wrote and directed Family Restaurant, a children’s film for preschoolers with gay and lesbian parents. She directed the Showtime's Alec Mapa: Baby Daddy, a concert film about gay adoption. She’s also helped produce the FUSE docu-series Transcendent and Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric for NatGeo. Her interactive experimental media project Becoming a Man in 127 EASY Steps is currently in post-production.
